Writing Tips (PTE ESSAY)

Essay writing is an important task that carries a 22% weightage. While writing an essay candidates should keep in mind the essay type, so that they can organize the arguments accordingly. For example- Agree/ Disagree, Advantage/Disadvantage, Problems, reasons, effects, solutions- a type of essay.

Always divide the essay into four paragraphs (parts). Paragraph one is an introduction, the last paragraph is the conclusion, the body paragraphs should consist of explanations and reasons. The introduction and conclusion should contain not less than three sentences. Start strong and end well. Do not write the essay in a single long paragraph as it is not the correct way. Do not load essays with so many stray ideas and examples. In any case, you must keep in mind that do not make any essay too short or too long. An essay below 120 or above 380 words gets a zero score.

An essay is a formal write-up, so do not use contracted forms, such as can’t, don’t, or any abbreviations. Do not use informal words, rather use standard vocabulary. Last but not least, the conclusion should be good and do keep time for proofreading as two spelling mistakes will lead to a zero score in spellings.
