The
part 1 of
IELTS speaking module is based on very general topics related to the
life of the candidate. An experienced examiner
asks very common questions related to you only and thus, answers should be
based on your life, previous experiences and future ideas. No wrong or right
answers are there in this module. Examiner can asks anything related to your
life, but the most questions are based on the following topics:
About you:
About your name, address, liking and disliking, study and job, hobbies and
aim of life
Study:
Questions
like what are you studying, where are you studying, reason for choosing a
particular course, liking and disliking about subject, favorite subject, future
ambition and plan after course completion are asked in this section.
Work:
If
candidate is working, then work
related questions are asked; like: where do you work, nature of your job, job
profile and responsibilities, do you want to change job or love it, total
experience, long-term plan for career, why did you select this job and what do
you hate most about your job.
Your Town:
This section includes following type of questions: where do you live, what
kind of street do you live in, type of people around you, weather in your town,
landmark in your town, recent changes in your town and what do you want to
change about your town, etc.
Free Time:
What do you do in your free time, how do you start it and how do you get
free time. What advice would you give people to spend their free time in
productive ways; such questions are included in this segment.
Holidays:
What do you do in holidays; where would you like to go in the world during
holidays, what is your favorite holiday activity and how do your surrounding
people spend time during their holidays, etc.
Transport:
How do you commute, what is your favorite medium of transportation, do you
find transportation convenient and do you prefer public or private transport
more often.
Shopping:
Do you like shopping, where you go for shopping and with whom do you like
shopping, what you shop, how do you
plan your budget, what is your
favorite shopping destination etc.
Your
neighborhood:
Do you like your neighbors, do you visit them or they visit
you, do you have any complaint with your neighbors, etc.
Reading:
Do you love reading, what type of books do you read, tell me your favorite book
or newspaper and advantages of reading over watching cinema.
Sports
and games:
National games, your favorite sport, are you into workout and
why is exercise good for you, etc.
These are most common questions asked in IELTS speaking part 1 by the examiner. It should be made clear that examiner’s mind is unpredictable and s/he can ask any type of questions. So it is better to practice as much as possible with our tutor at
