Studying abroad is really an exciting phase for everyone. But as you land in an alien
country, all along, away from home and without your near and dear ones’, loneliness,
memories and unfamiliar faces may cause boredom and you may feel home sickness.
You may feel happy in the beginning, but at some point, you would definitely
start feeling these things. The most common signs of homesickness in abroad
are: loss of appetite, anxiety, depression and the feeling of missing your
family, friend and these signs can differ from person to person. Here are a few
ways to fight homesickness perfectly.
Keep yourself busy
Here, we don’t mean
from sticking on social media. You are in a new country and you have lots of
things to do. Go outside, explore the city, roam around the country, learn the
new language, make new friends, involves yourself in all extra curriculum
activities on campus and look for a part-time job and at the end of the day,
jot down your experience in your diary.
Be a Tourist during spare time
Just imagine! You are
in another country. It’s like being on another planet and you have hell lots of
things to know about it. Get deeper into the history, climate, culture, sports,
people and everything about the country. Spend quality time at the favorite
spots among favorite people. Visit the best places of the city.
Stick to your Old Routine
Moving abroad would
definitely bring little changes in your lifestyle, but you don’t need to change
your routine. You have a full 24 hours in a day wherever you go. By making just
a few changes, follow the same routine that you were doing in your home
country.
Make an Emotional Connection with your temporary home
Being a student, you
would be staying in another country for a short span. But for that short
duration, your room will be your own space. Add a little bit life to your room,
hang the photos of your family and friends on the wall, decorate the room and
develop an emotion connection with your room as well as also with your
surroundings.
Connect with surrounding people
It’s not only
important, but good to connect with the people around you. If you are going
abroad for study, you have chances to bring back remarkable experiences,
lifetime international friends, knowledge of different language, culture and
lifestyle and lots more things that will make you stand apart from others.
Stay Positive
Don’t think negative
and avoid negative comments. Stay motivated, positive and forward looking. Have
a positive view of everything. Think about the positive sides of studying abroad, its importance and benefits of studying abroad.
Following these
things, your life will be so easy and enjoyable in abroad. So pack your bag,
stay positive and get ready for the new life in abroad.
