The academic reading paper has three parts and for each, you have to answer 10 to 12 questions. You will have an hour to complete 40 questions and write your answers on the answer sheet.

  • Take a look at your time. This test has strict deadlines that will really challenge your ability to fulfill the question on time. This means that you should be able to quickly scan the route to detect information.
  • Fill answers in your answer sheets directly. If you write your answers in the booklet, and later copy down, you will waste time.
  • Don’t assume anything based on your knowledge and experience, read the text.
  • Leave difficult questions for end. If you spend a lot of time on questions that you find difficult, you’ll be wasting valuable time, leave them and move on. You can return to the difficult questions at the end.
  • Check your spellings and be careful to use singular and plural correctly.
  • Don’t panic if you come across unknown words. As all those difficult words don’t matter most of the time.
  • Make sure that you understand the question and follow the instructions carefully.
  • The word(s) you used should be taken from the reading text, you should not change the form of words(s) in the text.
  • Read all instructions carefully and answer accordingly.
  • Attempt all questions, there is no penalties for incorrect answers, so you have nothing to lose.
  • Practice doing lots of reading test.
