nor too slow. Aim for a natural speed and attempt to maintain it throughout the
entire duration of your exam.
Use of too many types of filler or utterances
When thinking of
words to be spoken students often tend to make filler sounds like ‘aaa’, ‘Uhm,
etc. This negatively affects the student’s score. An alternative is to prepare
templates for speaking, so that filler words ‘like’, ‘you know’ and other
sounds, etc. are not used.
Avoid pausing, making a false start, repetitions, and hesitations
Oral fluency
determines you’re speaking score to a large extent. If you take unnecessary
pauses or make false starts, then it surely affects your Speaking band score.
Further, hesitating, repeating words, should also be avoided. Along with that, you
must make sure that not even a single word tends to make your speech boring. If

Do not pause for too long
It is essential
to know that if you pause for 3 seconds in the PTE Speaking Module, then the
microphone goes off. Anything you say after that will not be recorded. Make

Spelling, Punctuation, Grammar, Vocabulary, and Word limit
Check your
spellings, punctuation marks, and sentence formation. "Errors in areas
like singular and plural sentences, prepositions list, as well structures are
quite common. Vocabulary should be given priority to develop enabling skills as
they play a crucial role in your score. The word limit should be noted for all
tasks and for summarizing spoken task should be answered in a single sentence.

- In describe the image and Re-tell lecture, all the points, relationships, implications, and conclusions should not be ignored.
- Make smart use of the erasable notepad to make a note of the important points. Ensure that you write down the keywords necessary to answer the questions.
